Rusty is a 2-3 year old golden mix who is shy at first but warms up quickly to a head pet and treats, any kind of treats. He lives with a big black lab so he is learning how to be a loved on house dog by watching him and nudging him aside to get pets and hugs from his foster mom. He has lots of love to give if you will be patient.
Rusty is 54 pounds, neutered and heartworm negative. He is learning to walk on a leash but loves running around the back yard, sniffing and exploring the landscape. He is learning the come command, but that is a work in progress! He has not been around children yet but seems to be shy at first meeting most people, then friendly.
He is learning how to behave in a house and has improved his house manners in short order. He even scratches on the back door to go out. While not a fan of crates, he does tolerate them when necessary. He has not been interested in toys but as he learns to dog, that might change. He has not shown any food aggression and could stand to gain 5 pounds or so.
Rusty is available for visits by approved adopters so let your adoption coordinator know you are interested in meeting him soon.
