1. Please read our Adoption Requirements before you submit an Adoption Application.
  2. Complete and submit an Adoption Application.
  3. Please allow at least two weeks to process your application.
  4. An adoption coordinator will be assigned to review your application.
  5. Your adoption coordinator will contact you to arrange a phone interview.
  6. We will follow up on your vet, personal references, and landlord if you are renting.
  7. We will notify you about the outcome of your application.
  8. If your application is approved, you can look at the Available Dogs on our website and contact your adoption coordinator to talk about the dog(s) you are interested in meeting. If you and your adoption coordinator mutually agree that you may be a good match for a dog, your application will be forwarded to the foster family.
  9. If the foster thinks you would be a good match for the dog, you will be contacted to set up a time for you to visit the dog. An appointment to meet a dog does not guarantee you will be selected to adopt the dog. We look for the best match for the needs of the Golden and the adopter.
  10. Everyone in your household including children and any dogs you have must attend this meeting. It is important that this be a good match for everyone.
  11. The foster family and our adoption team lead will have the final say in selecting the forever home for the dog.
  12. If you are selected to adopt, you will pay the adoption fee and sign our Adoption Contract prior to taking your Golden home with you.
  13. Read our helpful guide "Integrating Your New Pet".
  14. We will email you a copy of your dog's medical records.
  15. You will be advised to take your new family member to the vet within two weeks of adoption for a check-up.
  16. After adopting from GRRH, please stay in touch. We love to receive updates and photographs of our GRRH alumni and their family.
  17. To generate interest and support for our organization, we may ask for permission to use your name, your Golden’s name, and photographs for social media, GRRH events, and brochures. You may decline such use or impose limitation in this area.
